abstract = {The article analyses the considerations on 18th- and 19th-century Italy presented in the volume Le temps des Italies. XIIe-XIXe siècle. Aimed at deconstructing the history of the peninsula as a unified history, which naturally culminates in the nation state, the volume focuses in particular on the 15th-17th centuries, providing a colourful puzzle according to the different areas of investigation. Less in-depth, however, is the analysis of the following centuries, which are examined mainly with reference to Italy’s definitive entry into European culture, obliterating the multiple Italies that took shape at that time.
