	abstract = {In a series of memoranda written in 1334–1335, Marino Sanudo the Elder described Robert of Anjou as qui non est pugil Ecclesie.The present study aims to assess the validity of this judgment. To this end, it will first examine the relationship between Sanudo and Robert of Anjou; it will then analyse the Angevin ruler’s Italian and eastern policies, together with his commitment to crusading initiatives; finally, it will reconstruct his fiscal policy in order to evaluate the consistency between political intentions and the concrete capacity to implement them.
In alcune memorie del 1334-1335 Marino Sanudo il Vecchio parlando di Roberto d’Angiò lo definisce qui non est pugil Ecclesie. Il presente studio si pone come obiettivo quello di valutare la fondatezza di questo giudizio. A questo scopo, in un primo momento si analizzerà il rapporto fra Sanudo e Roberto d’Angiò; poi si analizzerà la politica italiana e orientale del sovrano angioino e il suo impegno crociato; per ultimo si ricostruirà la sua politica fiscale, al fine di valutare la coerenza tra volontà politica e capacità concreta di realizzazione.},
