TY - EJOUR AU - Marica Tolomelli T1 - Italia anni '70: nemico di Stato vs. Stato nemico TT - AB - During the seventies the legitimization of the Italian State was a delicate topic and the phenomenon of political violence became a quite common form of political activism. The left-wing wanted to justify this violence and show the necessity of terrorism as a political tool. The most important and well-known terrorist movement on the Italian left-wing in this period was “the Red Brigades”, known especially for kidnapping and assassinating former Prime Minister Aldo Moro. The Red Brigades represented themselves as the “enemy of the state” - a state which in this period had much difficulty legitimizing it's own power, something which was in the oppositions favour.
