Lo stesso giorno in cui visita il Centro Islamico a Washington, Bush afferma, a proposito di Osama Bin Laden: «I want justice. And there's an old poster out West, I recall, that says, Wanted: Dead or Alive». Nel discorso sullo Stato dell'Unione del 2003, il presidente dice: «All told, more than 3,000 suspected terrorists have been arrested in many countries. Many others have met a different fate. Let's put it this way -- they are no longer a problem to the United States and our friends and allies». Da queste parole emerge la degradazione totale del nemico: nemmeno la sua vita è degna di rispetto, in quanto esso rappresenta il Male assoluto.
